This must be Jamie and Tom’s bazillionth adventure in Dinosaur Cove but that doesn’t mean it’s not an exciting one! The two boys and dinosaur friend Wanna are practising their tracking and sneaking skills on a herd of plateosaurs when one weak little baby is left behind. The trio are determined to help it catch up with the others but first they will have to get it back to strength with plenty of food and water. Things are starting to look up as they cross a desert on the trail of the herd when they see a beautiful oasis up ahead. But when they sit down for a well earned rest they notice the plateosaurs are eating the oasis bare and the resident dinosaurs don’t look happy! Being the smallest creatures there it looks like the boys will be picked on if they don’t somehow manage to drive the herd away from the oasis before the place is destroyed.

There are a lot of Dinosaur Cove books and it’s due to there immense popularity with young readers fascinated with dinosaurs. We know from experience that even the most unwilling readers will happily sit down and pore over Tom and Jamie’s adventures back in time. These books are easy to read, fun and exciting with plenty of facts to interest the young dinosaur connoisseur as the young heroes discover eating habits, behavioural patterns and the era the chosen dinosaur lived in. They are also not very long which makes them very manageable for children starting to read on their own as well as for being read aloud at bed time.

If you have a young dinosaur fan than this series is highly recommended to feed their desire for knowledge and fire their imagination. Before long they’ll be playing with their own dinosaur friends and searching for a portal back in time And with a relatively small price tag you should be able to amass a whole library full eventually!
