The two latest adventures of the Titch and Mitch series faturing the two loveable and charismatic pixies have just recently arrived on the doorstep. Book 4, The Magic Boots, and 5, The Blue Wizard, bring us another series of short stories of the deeds and doings of these diminutive heroes and their friends. The first book tells the story of a pair of magical boots and how they come to their new owner, the intelligent turkey Wiffen. Boots, bird and friends are about to embark on a half dozen light and fun adventures that will see them delivering emergency medical supplies, finding missing monkeys and dealing with a spectacular christmas disaster!

Book five is just as high spirited though perhaps with a little more of a hint of danger as the evil Black Witch makes an appearence. This horrible old crone has kidnapped the pixie princess Lucinda and only Titch and Mitch can save her. The two pixies are also about to become special agents for Father Christmas.

Both books are just over a hundred pages long and split into short stories that will make them easily managable for both young readers independently and for supported reading aloud. Needless to say, when the story focuses around pixies there is a lot of magical goings on from boots that walk across water to a kettle that tells the future. Broomsticks and bycycles fly through the air, lions walk around free and wizards give out wishes. These stories have everything that imaginative young children will love, in fact these are the sorts of adventures that they mostly likely dream about having themselves. Who wouldn't want to work for Father Christmas or travel in a football? Parents will also like them as they are very suitable for the age range with no frightening or unsuitable aspects and some interesting lessons in humility and friendship to be learnt.

Altogether these are fun and light reads that should appeal to a wide range of kids and, with the festive element, would work well in the run up to Christmas.
